My name is Janene, and I am the founder of Baby Steps Postpartum Care. I became a postpartum doula in 2022 through DONA International after realizing that my passion for supporting children and families could not be sidelined. Ever since becoming a babysitter at age 11, I've been committed to helping families, knowing as early as eight years old that I wanted to be a mother. My nurturing spirit earned me the nickname 'little mama' from family and 'grandma' from peers.
Before I even knew what a postpartum doula was, I supported my mother during her postpartum period with my baby brother, my sister through her teenage pregnancy with my nephew. I chose the path of adoption for my son in 2015, and even assisted his adoptive parents with postpartum care; leading to a beautiful open adoption story.
With over 12 years of experience in childcare, I am a strong advocate for community support for new parents during the postpartum period. I believe that involving the entire family at every step is crucial for successful adjustment. Which is why I strive to ensure my clients feel like I am an additional part of their support system as I provide education and care through this transitional time. I am certified with ProDoula in postpartum and infant care doula services, as well as Advanced Postpartum Support. I am committed to ongoing education to enhance my support and stay updated on care recommendations for providers to ensure you're consistently getting expert postpartum doula services.
